Job Summary
Layout, install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on complicated electrical equipment and circuits while troubleshooting control systems and malfunctions. Analyze electrical issues to diagnose and correct problems quickly, avoiding production delays. Read and interpret drawings and wiring schematics, following established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company protocols. Work with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and willingness to collaborate across departments. Participate in continuous improvement activities and respond rapidly to safety instructions, alarms, and signals in a busy environment. Requires OSHA-compliant safety procedures, physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and flexible shift hours including weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in Electrical trade
- six (6) years of documented experience as an Electrician
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which include comprehensive assessments, hair drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice
- Quick response to safety instructions, alarms, and signals
- Ability to work and stand for extended periods
- Comfortably wear personal protective equipment
- Navigate a busy environment
- Bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach
- May need to lift or carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs. depending on department
- Drive mobile equipment when needed
