Job Summary
Layout, install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on complicated electrical equipment and circuits while troubleshooting control system malfunctions. Analyze electrical failures to diagnose and correct problems quickly, avoiding production delays. Read and interpret drawings and wiring schematics, following established OSHA safety procedures throughout all tasks. Navigate busy environments, work extended periods standing, and lift materials up to 50 lbs as needed. Work flexible day, afternoon, or night shifts including weekends and holidays with little notice.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in Electrical trade
- six (6) years of documented experience as an Electrician
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which include comprehensive assessments, hair drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice
- Quick response to safety instructions, alarms, and signals
- Ability to work and stand for extended periods
- Comfortably wear personal protective equipment
- Navigate a busy environment
- Bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach
- May need to lift or carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs. depending on department
- Drive mobile equipment when needed
