Job Summary
Follow established safety procedures and perform layout, installation, repair, and preventative maintenance on complicated electrical equipment and circuits. Analyze and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, diagnosing and correcting problems quickly to avoid production delays. Read and interpret drawings and wiring schematics while participating in continuous improvement activities. Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and promote teamwork across departments. Must complete the General Motors hiring process, including comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and background checks. Requires at least 18 years of age, U.S. work eligibility, and an apprenticeship certificate or six years of documented experience. Flexible shift hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, with little notice.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in Electrical trade
- six (6) years of documented experience as an Electrician
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which include comprehensive assessments, hair drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice
- Quick response to safety instructions, alarms, and signals
- Ability to work and stand for extended periods
- Comfortably wear personal protective equipment
- Navigate a busy environment
- Bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach
- May need to lift or carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs. depending on department
- Drive mobile equipment when needed
