Job Summary
Prepare and develop traffic signal design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for municipal and transportation infrastructure projects in Toronto, Ontario. Perform electrical design activities for roadway infrastructure, coordinate multidisciplinary design reviews, and support client meetings and technical discussions. Ensure regulatory compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code, OTM Book 12, OPSD, and OPSS standards while providing technical guidance to junior team members. Participate in field investigations, site reviews, and construction inspections to verify design implementation and contribute to quality assurance processes. Assist with problem-solving and risk identification related to traffic signal systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a College Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology
- Minimum 3 to 5+ years of progressive experience in traffic signal, roadway, and electrical design
- Minimum 3 years of direct traffic signal design experience
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)
- Experience applying OTM Book 12, OPSD, and OPSS standards
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Experience preparing engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and technical documentation
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary infrastructure project teams
- Strong communication, coordination, and technical problem-solving skills
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing with a Canadian engineering regulator
- Experience supporting municipal transportation infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and energy-efficient electrical design practices
- Experience mentoring junior engineering or design staff
- Additional exposure to roadway electrical systems and transportation corridor projects
