Job Summary
Perform electrical testing, troubleshooting, and inspection of transformers, switchgear, and medium-voltage equipment in shop and field environments. Conduct internal and external evaluations to identify defects, then diagnose issues and perform minor repairs or connection checks. Complete assigned work orders, documentation, and reports accurately while adhering to all safety policies and procedures. Operate forklifts and industrial equipment safely, working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions with up to 50% travel to customer locations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience testing transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, or other medium-voltage electrical equipment
- Strong knowledge of electrical testing procedures and equipment
- Experience performing Turns Ratio, Insulation Resistance, Winding Resistance, Power Factor, Hi-Pot, Contact Resistance, No-Load, and Full-Load testing
- Thorough understanding of transformer and switchgear operation, troubleshooting, and diagnostics
- Ability to identify electrical problems and perform minor repairs or electrical connection corrections
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prepare detailed testing reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience using electrical test equipment, hand tools, and power tools
- Valid Driver's License
- Must successfully complete a background check, Wonderlic assessment, workers' compensation history review, and drug screen
- Ability to work safely in both shop and field environments
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safely work around energized electrical equipment
- Must be able to travel to customer locations to perform testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning services as required
- Must be available for up to 50% travel (negotiable based on assignment)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience testing Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Vacuum Fault Interrupters (VFIs), circuit breakers, or programming protective relays
- OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR/AED certifications
