Job Summary
Electrical Test & Trials Lead responsible for performing comprehensive electrical testing, including sea trials, prior to vessel delivery. Communicates test outcomes with customers and regulatory agents, prepares regular and special test status reports, documents deficiencies, diagnoses and corrects electrical circuit issues, and reworks components such as motors, motor controllers, relay panels, VFDs, transformers, alarm systems, and control circuits. Collaborates with mechanical Test & Trials personnel on system integration, adheres to safety, environmental, and quality procedures, and participates in overtime as needed. Requires strong knowledge of electrical systems (AC/DC), VFDs, transformers, relays, motor controllers, and the ability to troubleshoot using process meters and decade boxes; capable of working in confined spaces and wearing a respirator when applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of electrical test and trials experience
- Equivalent combinations of relevant training and experience
- Strong knowledge of shipbuilding processes, industry standards, and regulatory compliance
- Proficiency in interpreting electrical drawings and specifications
- Self-motivated with minimal supervision
- Effective communication and coordination with customers, managers, and interdisciplinary teams
- Hands-on experience with Motors and motor controllers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Transformers, AC/DC voltage systems, Relays
- Skilled in the use of multimeters to measure volts, amps, resistance, and continuity
- Excellent troubleshooting ability across complex electrical systems
- Ability to coordinate and allocate with other supervision
- Sea trials experience (preferred)
