Job Summary
Electrical Technician responsible for the electrical build, wiring, testing, and commissioning of special-purpose machinery; works with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers; may travel to customer sites for installation and modifications. Key duties include building and wiring electrical systems from schematics, installing and testing control panels, sensors, motors, drives, and field devices, supporting fault-finding, testing, and commissioning, and assisting with installation/modification work at customer sites. Requires strong hands-on electrical skills, familiarity with industrial components (switchgear, PLCs, servo drives, sensors), methodical and detail-oriented approach, good communication, and ability to work independently or in a team. Essential qualifications include Level 2/3 Electrical Engineering qualification or recognised UK electrical apprenticeship and practical experience in machinery electrical build (panel and field wiring); desirable: Level 3 NVQ or equivalent and experience with bespoke/special-purpose machinery. Offered salary is £13.00–£23.50 per hour, with 40-hour week, based in Waterbeach, UK; benefits include 33 days holiday, pension, life insurance, critical illness cover, and employee share scheme.
