Job Summary
Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for electrical and control system failures within a natural gas-fired peaking facility. Oversee installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of generators, switchgear, and 230kV switchyard assets while developing preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Provide technical leadership for control systems, validate testing and calibration, and direct electrical isolations and switching procedures. Mentor personnel, support outage planning and execution, and serve as the subject matter expert for plant electrical systems. Ensure compliance with safety standards and collaborate on capital projects and long-term asset management. Occasional extended hours, weekends, and on-call status required.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to understand and follow procedures related to electrical systems, typically demonstrated by a high school diploma or equivalent
- An associate degree in electrical technology, power plant electrical systems, or a related field
- Equivalent industry or military electrical experience
- Progression from Journeyman Electrician, military equivalent, or Senior-level role
- Strong experience in power generation or heavy industrial environments
- Ability to serve as a technical authority
- Extensive experience with high-voltage systems up to 230kV
- Solid knowledge of safety and regulatory standards
- Advanced ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical systems
- Experience commissioning and calibrating instrumentation and control systems
- Strong background in preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as meggers and relay test equipment
- Proven capability in leading electrical isolations (LOTO), switching, and system restoration
- Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver's license
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
- Must be able to work from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights
- Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to enter confined spaces
- Must be able to crawl through narrow areas
- Must be able to handle hazardous materials
- Must be able to work in environments with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise
- Must be able to work in high heat near equipment
- Must be able to work in varying outdoor weather conditions
- Must be able to use protective equipment including hard hats, safety glasses, eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection
- Must pass post-offer physical examination
- Must pass drug screening
- Must be mentally alert and work safely at all times
- Must adhere to all safety warnings and posted signs while on company property
- Must follow all NAES safety rules and procedures
- Must be available for extended working hours
- Must be available for flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
- Must be available for periodic callouts or On call status
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in electrical technology, power plant electrical systems, or a related field is preferred
- Equivalent industry or military electrical experience may also be considered
