Job Summary
Electrical / Systems Integration Engineering Intern supports design and documentation activities for system interconnects, cable assemblies, connector selection, power distribution, and controlled documentation. The role updates and creates system interconnect diagrams, cable drawings, wiring diagrams, and related electrical documentation; assists with cable assembly definitions, pinout documentation, interface details, power budgets, and component selection under engineering staff guidance; participates in design/drawing reviews and maintains BOM information within ERP/PLM/PDM systems; collaborates with mechanical, electrical, systems, manufacturing, and configuration management teams to ensure documentation supports design, fabrication, assembly, test, and sustainment needs; requires hands-on hardware integration interest, readiness to learn documentation practices, and strong attention to detail. Preferred experience includes student design projects and familiarity with electrical/documentation tools like AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, Visio, DraftSight, Zuken, EPLAN, or similar; U.S. citizenship or controlled data compliance may apply.
Required Qualifications
- Completed at least one full year of college and currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related technical field
- Rising sophomore or higher standing
- Must be available for full-time work, 40 hours per week, during assigned rotations
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits, voltage, current, power, grounding, and wiring concepts
- Ability to read and interpret basic schematics, wiring diagrams, cable drawings, or system block diagrams
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel or similar tools for developing tables, calculations, power budgets, and documentation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow controlled engineering processes
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally
- Willingness to learn engineering documentation practices, configuration management, and release processes
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while seeking clarification when requirements are incomplete or ambiguous
