Electrical Systems Engineer

Job Summary
Lead design and development of STS and PDU 3-phase power products, ensuring compliance with UL, IEC, NEC and customer specifications. Translate technical requirements into detailed engineering specifications; specify site planning data including power distribution layouts, cable sizing, and environmental considerations; specify circuit breakers and develop circuit breaker coordination schemes; develop control system designs by integrating Vertiv’s digital and analog controls for monitoring and managing power distribution systems; develop and execute test plans to validate thermal performance, EMI, metering and controls accuracy/performance, and withstand fault performance of STS and PDU units; ensure adherence to latest industry standards and regulatory requirements; prepare detailed technical documentation and review customer-facing manuals; collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams for seamless integration and deployment; identify areas for process improvement; travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s Degree a plus
- 3 plus years of experience in product development and testing
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems with minimal guidance
- Experience with 3 phase power and conversion/conditioning products preferred, but not required
- Understanding of industry standards (UL, IEC, NEC) and their application in product design and development
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Strong communication and organizational skills with ability to summarize technical data/results quickly for non-technical audiences
- Mostly sedentary desk work, must be able to occasionally work in a power test lab environment, including lifting objects, running cables, or stepping over/around objects
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
- Travel as required, domestic and international, 0-10%
