Job Summary
Oversee all electrical aspects of data center construction and maintenance projects, including wiring, conduits, lighting, and control systems. Plan and schedule work to ensure timely, safe, and high-quality execution while coordinating with project managers, contractors, and other trades. Lead and supervise a team of journeyman electricians, foremen, and apprentices, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations. Conduct routine inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to verify compliance with industry standards, local codes, and company policies. Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and respond promptly to emergency situations such as power outages to minimize downtime. Maintain accurate records of work, inspections, and repairs, and prepare reports on project status and team performance.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of experience as a journeyman electrician
- At least 4 years in a supervisory or foreman role
- Experience preferably in a data center or similar environment
- Strong leadership skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents
- Proficiency with electrical tools and equipment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to self-motivate and manage workflow
- Excellent knowledge of electrical and safety codes and regulations
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Valid journeyman electrician license
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to hear, speak, and communicate effectively
- Good vision and hearing (normal or corrected) and accurate color identification
- Must lift at least 50 lbs
- Ability to raise arms above shoulder level
- Ability to perform overhead work for extended periods
- Ability to climb and carry ladders (up to 12 ft)
- Ability to navigate stairways
- Ability to work at heights up to 90 ft using ladders, scaffolds, or lifts
- Ability to access restricted areas (e.g., switchgear rooms, vaults, tunnels, crawl spaces)
- Ability to wear full PPE
- Must be able to work in data center environments with potential exposure to electrical hazards, noise, and varying temperatures
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
Desired Qualifications
- Additional certifications (e.g., OSHA, NFPA 70E)
