Electrical Service Engineer

Job Summary

Travel to customer sites to inspect, install, commission, test, calibrate, upgrade, refurbish, and repair ARM/NOV equipment, prioritizing emergency "Rig Down" responses to restore operational status. Perform fault finding on mechanical, electrical, PLC-controlled systems, and VFDs while executing field upgrades using current control protocols. Read engineering drawings, investigate equipment problems and NCRs, and participate in root cause analyses to initiate corrective actions. Prepare accurate service documentation including daily reports, survey reports, and final service submissions. Provide operational analysis and field surveys with recommendations to improve equipment performance, while training customers on safe operation and maintenance. Collaborate with engineering, quality, and HSE teams to resolve issues and promote continuous improvement, ensuring full compliance with QA and HSE policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven working knowledge of installation, commissioning, overhaul, fault finding, and repair of heavy machinery or automated systems
  • Experience working with PLC and computer-controlled systems, including the ability to perform minor software modifications
  • Strong understanding of AC & DC power systems, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Experience within FMCG, heavy industry, oil & gas, or similar automated industrial environments
  • Previous experience in a similar field service role, either offshore or within an automation-based industry
  • Experience working in high-pressure operational environments requiring rapid fault diagnosis and resolution
  • Strong technical and functional knowledge of NOV drilling equipment (RFE, NOI, PCE) and related industry systems
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation
  • PLC interrogation and minor software modification capability
  • Advanced fault-finding skills across electrical, mechanical, AC/DC systems, and VFDs
  • Installation, commissioning, testing, calibration, upgrade, and refurbishment expertise
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and NCR investigation support
  • Rapid and effective response to "Rig Down" situations in high-pressure environments
  • Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving ability
  • High level of quality focus and commitment to QA/HSE compliance
  • Effective planning, workload supervision, and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical reporting
  • Strong customer focus with ability to deliver training and operational support
  • Cross-functional collaboration with engineering, quality, operations, and global teams
  • Sound decision-making ability and capability to work under pressure
  • Continuous technical learning mindset with patience and adaptability
