Electrical Quality Assurance Specialist

Job Summary
Inspect and test electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, and control panels for conformance with drawings, schematics, and the National Electrical Code. Verify materials, connections, grounding, and torque while participating in insulation resistance, continuity, hi-pot, VLF, and functional tests ahead of final product release. Review one-line diagrams and as-builts to ensure design intent, then troubleshoot malfunctions and coordinate corrective actions with the Electrical Department. Maintain compliance with NEC, NETA, and IEEE standards across systems from 12VDC to 13.8kV by tracking inspection progress against the Inspection & Test Plan and organizing detailed reports for customers and auditors. Manage electrical test records and non-conformance issues to ensure all dredge systems meet project contract requirements and international codes.
Required Qualifications
- Electrical Certification from Vocational School and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5–7 years of quality assurance or electrical inspection experience, ideally in industrial, marine, or heavy equipment manufacturing
- Working knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, NETA, IEEE) and experience with high-voltage systems (up to 24-12K volts)
- Experience with electrical test instruments (multimeters, insulation resistance testers, hi-pot testers) and the ability to interpret electrical schematics and drawings
- Working knowledge of Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), arc flash, and electrical safety procedures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to customers and cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Willingness to travel as required from Reserve, LA to Poplarville, MS as required
Desired Qualifications
- NETA certification preferred
