Job Summary
Lead design for electrical systems and mentor junior staff by researching, coordinating, verifying, scheduling, and documenting various design aspects. Build and maintain client relationships while quickly solving problems and seeking Project Manager advice as required by the contract services agreement. Perform electrical calculations, system design, equipment selection, reporting, BIM coordination, and progress submittals for complex industrial facilities, including medium-voltage power distribution, unit substations, fire alarm, and security systems. Collaborate on projects delivered through Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build methods while supporting facility expansions, capital improvements, and process upgrades. Work with clients across manufacturing, agribusiness, food and beverage, chemical processing, and pharmaceuticals sectors. This role involves exploring forward-looking solutions tied to energy performance, smart buildings, photovoltaic systems, and digital twin technology.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- Engineering In Training (EIT) Certification
- 3 years of experience minimum in the building design consulting industry
- Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
- Proficiency with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other
- Proficiency with industry standard engineering software and tools including power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other
- Proficiency in the use of BIM software and CTC Revit Add In Tools
- Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
- Proficiency with energy compliance software such as ComCheck
- Proficiency with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
- Proficiency with the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
- Proficiency in Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.
- Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS
- Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering
- 4 years of experience in the building design consulting industry
- 7 years of experience minimum in the building design consulting industry
- 8 years of experience in the building design consulting industry
