Job Summary

Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, utilizing engineering software to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards. Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and build professional relationships while working within project budgets to support planning, scheduling, and execution of consulting projects. Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system designs and calculations, implement quality control processes to ensure industry standards are met, and mentor less experienced staff. Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phases, analyze engineering problems to propose innovative solutions, and prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3 years of experience minimum required in the building design consulting industry
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
  • Proficiency in industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other
  • Proficiency in industry standard engineering software and tools including power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other
  • Proficiency in the use of BIM software and CTC Revit Add In Tools
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
  • Proficiency in energy compliance software such as ComCheck
  • Proficiency in Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Proficiency in Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.
  • Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays

Desired Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience preferred in the building design consulting industry
  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
  • Preferred Engineering In Training (EIT) Certification
