Job Summary
Track safety and regulatory compliance status on electric powered products to ensure TTC Outdoor Power Equipment teams meet requirements prior to production and shipment. Evaluate U.S. and International product safety standards, provide design guidance for development teams, and support European Union Risk Assessments. Anticipate potential compliance issues, resolve problems as they arise, and represent the company in Domestic and International standards development organizations like ANSI and IEC. Interface with regulatory agencies, third-party certification authorities, and the Legal Department while supervising product safety testing and data analysis. Domestic and international travel is required for committee meetings and test sites.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- BS in Electrical, Mechatronics or applicable engineering degree required.
- Typically seven (5+) years' experience with evaluating safety standards, reviewing & ensuring product designs meet requirements for compliance, auditing, preferably within the electric products industry.
- Typically seven (7+) years' experience with evaluating safety standards, reviewing & ensuring product designs meet requirements for compliance, auditing, proactive product safety management or compliance in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the electric products industry.
- Typically seven (10+) years' experience with evaluating safety standards, reviewing & ensuring product designs meet requirements for compliance, standards development, auditing, proactive product safety management or compliance in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the electric products industry.
- Qualified candidates need to be versed in regulatory compliance and standards promulgation activity regarding electric products.
- Must be able to find and analyze electric product safety standards and assist teams with their understanding of the standards.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to interact with all levels of personnel internally and externally, as well as with various groups, business functions and governmental agencies.
- Able to effectively convey proposed strategies and legal requirements to senior-level management.
- Must be able to coordinate or supervise work of consultants, contract, or full-time employees.
- Domestic and International travel required to industry safety and regulatory committee meetings, accident investigation sites, test sites, distributors, customers, vendors, manufacturing facilities and other locations as required.
Desired Qualifications
- International experience and experience in international standards writing capacity is a plus.
- Understand worldwide battery regulations and standards.
- Understanding of EMC for OPE.
- Ideal background is in product safety and liability within manufacturing, particularly OPE or other electrical product.
- Previous experience in applying electrical components and subsystems to mechanical equipment for monitoring and control.
- Demonstrated capability to create and analyze portions of product design.
