Job Summary
Electrical/Mechanical Engineer contract role focusing on Equipment Automation and Safety in a pharmaceutical/medical device manufacturing environment. Responsible for supporting safety improvements (LOTO, ergonomics) across 25 manufacturing lines, lining up, starting, stopping, and securing equipment per site operations, adhering to safety and cGMP policies, operating and troubleshooting sophisticated plant equipment, providing cross-departmental support, maintaining accurate operation and log documentation, and contributing to SOPs/work plans. Requires bilingual English/Spanish, experience with electronic/automated equipment (PLC, sensors, relays, wiring diagrams, E-Stop), and a background in mechanical/electric installation and maintenance; strong emphasis on customer-service mindset and teamwork. Location in Añasco, Puerto Rico; contractor engagement. Generally first shift with potential second or split shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree
- 1-2 years of experience with Electronic/Automated equipment in Pharmaceutical or Medical Device industry
- Bilingual English and Spanish
- Shift flexibility: first shift primarily, with second or split shift
- Technical documentation skills
- Experience with electronic/automated equipment (sensors, relays, PLC, wiring diagrams, E-Stop & reset button, switches, automated controls)
- Experience in mechanical/electric areas (installing and working with small motors, belts, fixtures, controllers, axis, equipment assembly, wiring diagrams, protected doors/covers)
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot sophisticated plant equipment
- Ability to develop, revise, and review SOPs or job plans/work plans
- Compliance with safety rules, cGMP policies
