Job Summary
Electrical Mechanic (DOT) for Milwaukee County DOT- Highway Maintenance Department. Responsible for maintaining, constructing, and repairing electrical systems integral to highway operations. Duties include installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical power, transmission, lighting, communication signals, alarm systems, traffic signals, instruments, and related equipment; executing circuit repairs, terminating and splicing high voltage cables, installing motors and remote equipment; troubleshooting complex circuits; interpreting blueprints and diagrams; operating CDL-rated lift trucks; complying with local and national codes and safety standards; on-call and flexible schedules; requires on-site work in challenging environments including near traffic on interstates and county roads. Minimum qualifications include residency in Wisconsin, Class B CDL within six months, High School Diploma or GED, Wisconsin Master Electrician or Journeyman License, five years journeyman experience or Master Electrician license with one year of electrical experience, proficiency with basic software, Google Maps, GIS, and ability to lift up to 60 lbs. Preferred qualifications include Wisconsin Master Electrician license and Class B CDL without air brake restriction. Required Qualifications
- Must be a current resident of Wisconsin.
- Possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License; Class B CDL without air brake restriction required within six months of appointment and maintained thereafter.
- Hold a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Possess a valid State of Wisconsin Master Electrician OR Journeyman Electrician License.
- Must have five (5) years of experience as a journeyman electrician OR have a State of Wis. M.E. (Master Electrician) License with one (1) year of electrical experience
- Demonstrate intermediate proficiency with relevant computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to be on call and work flexible schedules.
Desired Qualifications
- Wisconsin Master Electrician License
- Class B CDL without air brake restriction
- Five years of journeyman electrician experience OR Master Electrician license (Wisconsin)
- On-call availability
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
