Electrical Maintenance Technician

Job Summary
Carry out planned preventative maintenance, diagnose electrical faults, and respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime across the Chirk manufacturing facility. Conduct fault finding on control systems, motors, drives, and PLC-controlled machinery while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Complete maintenance records accurately and ensure all work adheres to health, safety, and environmental procedures. Participate in equipment installations, upgrades, and commissioning activities, working closely with production teams to support efficient operations. Operate on a rotating 4 on, 4 off shift pattern covering 12-hour day and night shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Recognised Electrical Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, BTEC, City & Guilds, HNC, HND, or equivalent)
- Experience working in an electrical maintenance role within manufacturing, industrial, or process environments
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience with PLC-controlled machinery and automated production equipment
- Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, motors, drives, inverters, and control circuits
- The ability to work independently and as part of a shift team
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification
Desired Qualifications
- Time-served Electrical Apprenticeship preferred
- Experience within a heavy manufacturing, wood products, process, FMCG, or industrial environment would be advantageous
- Knowledge of PLC fault-finding and industrial automation systems is highly desirable
