Job Summary

Direct and oversee all phases of plant electrical and instrumentation maintenance to ensure safe, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective production. Supervise subordinates, resolve employee problems and disciplinary issues per the Union contract, and consult with Human Resources as appropriate. Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive safety program, including documentation, inspections, training, and corrective actions to foster a culture of safety. Coordinate with operations management to execute maintenance work plans, manage schedule breakers, and allocate resources efficiently to meet customer needs. Provide technical guidance to staff, advise engineers on electrical group needs, and execute solutions based on prior experience and technical research. Conceive and implement cost containment initiatives, including expense control, overtime reduction, and preventative maintenance reviews. Participate in the plant reliability program by reviewing maintenance requests, backlogs, and planning processes to minimize turnaround time and avoid unplanned outages. Investigate and manage grievances according to the labor contract's written process.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience in Electrical Maintenance Supervision
  • in-depth working knowledge of electrical and instrumentation process equipment operation and applications
  • in-depth working knowledge of piping systems, schematics, engineering and electrical drawings
  • knowledge of ASME, ANSI codes
  • understanding of OSHA regulations and a basic knowledge of local and state regulations concerning plant operation and construction
  • effective presentation, facilitation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • interact effectively with all levels of employees
  • cope with multiple interruptions
  • troubleshoot electrical systems/equipment
  • computer literacy with regard to Afton's routine applications (SAP, Microsoft Office, etc.) and is able to use appropriate software to solve engineering problems
