Job Summary
Follow established safety procedures and perform layout, installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of complicated electrical equipment and circuits. Analyze and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, diagnosing and correcting problems quickly to avoid production delays. Read and interpret drawings and wiring schematics while demonstrating strong problem-solving skills. Work flexible shift hours including days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays with little notice, and navigate a busy environment performing physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs and driving mobile equipment.
Required Qualifications
- At least six (6) years of related experience as an Electrician or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Electrical trade
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which includes comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice
- Quick response to safety instructions, alarms, and signals are a must
- Ability to work and stand for extended periods
- Comfortably wear personal protective equipment
- Navigate a busy environment
- Bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach
- May need to lift or carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs. depending on department
- Drive mobile equipment when needed
- This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis.
