Electrical Journeyman

Job Summary

Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, conduit, equipment, and fixtures, including underground cable and conduit installation, terminating, and equipment setup. Read blueprints and specifications to determine scope of work, identify required tools and safety risks, and cut, bend, and run conduit as specified. Assemble and install electrical equipment, terminate wires to breakers and control panels, test components for continuity and voltage, and inspect for hazards. Hoist equipment via bull rigging or crane, install grounding systems, and maintain temporary power systems. Work in harsh industrial environments, often at heights over 300 ft, with up to 12-hour shifts and frequent overtime.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician
  • National Center for Construction Education and Research's (NCCER) certification for Industrial Journeyman Electrician
  • 4+ years' experience as an Industrial Electrician Helper or above
  • Must be able to decipher and read blueprints and specifications without supervision
  • Must be able to demonstrate former knowledge and experience working on high voltage systems
  • Must know basic electrical theory for example but not limited to ohms law
  • Must be able to install and modify cable tray using hand tools and power tools
  • Must be able to bend and cut conduit using hand saws, hand tube bending equipment as well as power and hydraulic cutting and tube bending devices
  • Must be proficient in cable pulling methods used to run cable through specified pathways
  • Must be able to use specialized electrical tools such as but not limited to ohm meters, multi-meters, and terminating devices
  • Must be able to terminate both High and low-voltage equipment and cable/wiring
  • Must be able to troubleshoot equipment and systems for electrical malfunctions
  • Must be able to identify different types, gauges, and colors of cables and wires
  • Must be able to illustrate knowledge and experience of working with a lock-out tag-out system
  • Must be willing and able to follow all instructed safety regulations
  • Must be able to work at heights more than 300 ft.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to coordinate tasks, interpret instructions, and ensure clear communication with team members and clients
  • Must have good vision to read blueprints, identify electrical components, inspect work, and ensure accuracy in installations and repairs
  • Occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a post-offer / pre-placement drug screen and job-related employment physicals
  • Must also submit to a post-offer / pre-employment background check that verifies criminal history
