Job Summary
General Motors needs qualified Industrial Electrician Journeypersons. The role involves layout, installation, repair and preventative maintenance of complex electrical equipment and circuits, troubleshooting and applying technical expertise on control systems. Responsibilities include following OSHA and company safety procedures, maintaining and repairing electrical equipment, diagnosing malfunctions and correcting issues quickly to prevent production delays, performing preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, promoting teamwork, participating in continuous improvement, reading and interpreting drawings and wiring schematics, and applying strong problem-solving skills. Minimum qualifications include six years of experience or a U.S. Department of Labor certificate in the Electrical trade; ability to pass GM hiring assessments, drug screening, and background checks; 18+ years old; eligible to work in the United States; willingness to work flexible shifts including overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays; relocation assistance is not provided; sponsorship for immigration is not offered. Required Qualifications
- At least six (6) years of related experience as an Electrician or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Electrical trade
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which includes comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice
