Job Summary
The Electrical Journeyman role at GM involves layout, installation, repair and preventative maintenance of complex electrical equipment and circuits, with troubleshooting and technical oversight of control systems. Responsibilities include following OSHA and company safety procedures, performing maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, diagnosing and correcting malfunctions to prevent production delays, performing preventative/corrective maintenance on plant equipment, collaborating across departments, participating in continuous improvement, and reading and interpreting drawings and wiring schematics. The position requires strong problem-solving skills and flexibility to work day, afternoon, or night shifts, including overtime, with potential relocation requirements handled by the applicant. The role may be filled at Journeyperson or Journeyperson-in-Training level and includes compensation ranges and qualification-based scoring, with onsite work in Elwood, IN.
Required Qualifications
- At least six (6) years of related experience as an Electrician or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Electrical trade
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which includes comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice
