Job Summary
Contract Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer for mining/heavy industrial project in Vancouver, BC. Oversee field installation, testing, and troubleshooting of power distribution, instrumentation, and control systems; review electrical diagrams and datasheets; lead RFIs and field changes; coordinate with instrumentation/automation for integration and commissioning; ensure compliance with MSHA, NEC, and NFPA 70E; PE designation and 5-8 years’ experience required; remote work option available for this contractor role.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Engineer Designation
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field
- 5-8 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in mining, or heavy construction industries
- Strong knowledge of low- and medium-voltage systems, control wiring, grounding, and instrumentation
- Skilled in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and control system architecture
- Experience supporting field fitting and construction-driven changes
- Familiarity with MSHA, NEC, and NFPA 70E regulations and safety practices
- Excellent interpersonal, documentation, and field coordination skills
- Strong understanding of mining, milling and maintenance operations
- Proficiency with electrical design software programs (AutoCAD, ETAP, etc)
- MSHA 5000-23 certification required
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of the team
