Job Summary

Conduct electrical inspections of new wiring and equipment in commercial, industrial, and public use buildings to ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code and state regulations. Independently perform skilled technical work on installations at owner's request and prepare detailed reports covering compliance status, actions taken, and final findings. Maintain records and files of inspection reports, correspondence, and investigations. Requires a Class A electrical license, five years of relevant experience, and certification as a State Electrical Inspector. Schedule includes rotation across Banner, Box Butte, Kimball, Morrill, Scotts Bluff, and Sioux locations.

Required Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent
  • five years' experience as electrical inspector, electrical contractor, or construction electrician
  • Class A electrical contractor license
  • Class A master license
  • Class A journeyman electrical license
  • Certified State Electrical Inspector status
  • certification within six months of hire date per Rule 18 of the Nebraska State Electrical Act and Board Rules
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code
  • Knowledge of the State Electrical Act
  • Knowledge of State Electrical Board Rules and Regulations
  • knowledge of electrical theory
  • familiarity with electrical testing equipment
  • understanding of engineering design practices
  • understanding of building construction
  • understanding of electrical equipment
  • understanding of electrical construction of premises wiring systems
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with the other staff members, building owners, contractors, and the general public
