Job Summary

Secure, relocate, and organize materials, tools, and equipment from storage areas. Keep work zones clean by collecting scrap and disposing of refuse. Assist in pulling wire, lifting, hoisting, and positioning materials while digging trenches with hand tools. Mount and strap components, and operate less complicated hand tools and equipment under direct supervision. Install and make branch wire terminations in junction boxes and panel boards under close supervision of a Foreman or senior electrician. This safety-sensitive role prohibits work on energized circuits. Requires bending conduit by hand, utilizing power tools, and interpreting instructional manuals. Performs duties in all-weather conditions, including extreme heights, confined spaces, and slippery surfaces. Work 40-hour weeks with flexible hours, overtime, and night shifts as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Manual skills
  • Ability to work occasional overtime
  • Current Apprentice Electrical License
  • Current Driver's License
  • Reliable transportation
  • High School Graduate, GED or equivalent
  • Ability to bend conduit by hand with hand benders
  • Ability to utilize all power tools, saws, threaders, and knockout punches
  • Ability to comprehend and practice safe work procedures as outlined in CEC's Safety Policy Handbook, Haz-Com Policy, and Lockout/Tagout Policy
  • Ability to operate two handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and jack hammers
  • Ability to read and interpret instructional manuals, work site directions, and written instructions
  • Ability to install and make branch wire terminations in junction boxes and panel boards
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead
  • Ability to lift 51 pounds, routinely
  • Ability to climb ladders of all types
  • Ability to complete full day assignments involving overhead work
  • Ability to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to access all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use
  • Ability to secure tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks
