Job Summary
Diagnose operational problems in electrical power generation and control systems at customer sites, including paper mills, power plants, and water treatment facilities. Utilize specialized measuring instruments such as voltmeters, ammeters, and meggers to perform load requirement computations and thermography inspections. Conduct significant travel averaging 50% of the time within a 250-mile radius of Chesapeake, VA, while operating under a Monday through Friday schedule from 2pm to 12am. Maintain a clean driving record and possess the ability to lift and carry 40-80lb equipment. A Master's Electrician License and four years of industrial troubleshooting experience are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Significant travel to customer sites required (50% average, typically within a 250-mile radius)
- Diagnose operational problems in electrical power generation and control systems and equipment
- Use specialized measuring and testing instruments such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, meggers, Advanced Motor Circuit Testers [AWA IV-12, PDMA MCE, Megger ADX 15], etc.
- Make standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in industrial electrical troubleshooting with a background in AC/DC motors, controls, and generators
- High school degree or equivalent
- Must have excellent driving record
- Must be able to work overtime
- Must be able to lift and carry 40-80lb test equipment and tooling around Industrial Facilities
Desired Qualifications
- Master's Electrician License preferred
- Experience with thermography inspection is a plus
