Electrical Estimator

Job Summary
Analyze electrical drawings, specifications, and RFQs to fully understand project scope and identify material, labor, and subcontractor needs. Develop detailed cost estimates for conduit, wiring, controls, panels, and terminations using NEC standards, productivity rates, and site conditions. Evaluate vendor bids and subcontractor quotes for accuracy and competitiveness while maintaining relationships to obtain accurate pricing. Collaborate with Project Managers and stakeholders to clarify scope and budget, then use estimating software to present detailed cost proposals. Track actual project costs for future estimates and job cost analysis. Submit accurate and competitive quotes on time.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and industry standards
- Proficiency in mathematics, data analysis, and cost estimation methods
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, plans, and technical documents
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- 5–7 years of field experience in commercial or industrial electrical work
- 3–5 years of experience in electrical estimating
- Experience with estimating software, Microsoft Office, and CAD tools
Desired Qualifications
- College education not required—technical training or apprenticeships a plus
