Job Summary
The Electrical Estimator prepares accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and/or industrial electrical construction projects by reviewing drawings, specifications, and other documents to determine labor, material, and time requirements. Responsibilities include developing detailed cost estimates from project plans, performing quantity take-offs for electrical systems (power, lighting, low voltage, etc.), soliciting and evaluating vendor and subcontractor quotes, preparing and submitting complete bid packages within deadlines, identifying risks and value engineering options, collaborating with project managers, engineers, and field teams, maintaining cost databases and historical records, attending pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed, and assisting with the project handoff to operations after award.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in electrical estimating
- Knowledge of commercial and/or industrial electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Accubid, McCormick) and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Preferred: Electrical field experience (electrician, foreman, or similar)
- Preferred: Experience with design-build projects
- Preferred: Familiarity with NEC
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required)
