Job Summary
Review electrical specifications, drawings, and project requirements to develop accurate equipment takeoffs and scope definitions. Build competitive budgets and estimates for electrical systems across diverse project types, analyzing specifications to identify equipment options that meet design requirements. Develop comprehensive bid packages with clear scope definitions, solicit competitive pricing from manufacturers, and perform detailed bid leveling to ensure apples-to-apples evaluations. Coordinate with internal purchasing teams for contract execution, review equipment submittals for compliance, and support RFI responses throughout the project lifecycle. Work closely with General Contractors and design teams to clarify scope, verify equipment selections, and resolve specification discrepancies. This role supports major projects across the United States, involving direct interaction with General Contractors and leading equipment manufacturers. The position offers a competitive base salary of $80,000–$120,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package with 401(k) matching and paid time off.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of experience in electrical estimating, electrical contracting, MEP coordination, or related construction roles
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, equipment types, and electrical specifications
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, specifications, and design documents
- Proficiency with construction software (Bluebeam, BuildingConnected, Procore, or similar platforms)
- Strong analytical skills for bid leveling and equipment comparison
- Understanding of electrical codes and standards (NEC, UL, IEEE)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordination across multiple teams and stakeholders
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable coordinating projects nationwide (minimal travel required, primarily remote coordination)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with electrical equipment selection and submittal review
- Experience with estimating or takeoff software preferred
- Familiarity with major electrical equipment manufacturers (Eaton, Square D/Schneider Electric, Siemens, ABB, GE, Generac, Caterpillar, etc.)
- Knowledge of electrical system design principles, coordination requirements, and arc flash studies
- Experience working with OEM manufacturers or equipment suppliers
- Understanding of various regional electrical codes and requirements
- Familiarity with switchgear, transformers, generators, panelboards, and distribution equipment
