Job Summary
Electrical Engineering Technician responsible for maintaining electrical and electronic systems onboard Royal Navy vessels during deep maintenance periods, assisting in regeneration of systems to full operational condition, and generating defect reports for maintenance planning. Works on dedicated electrical, weapons, communications and electronic systems, reporting system equipment status to stakeholders, rectifying defects, and contributing to tests and trials. Requires Level 3 NVQ/BTEC or equivalent in electrical/electronic engineering, Security Check (SC) clearance eligibility, ability to work onboard ships, IT skills for maintenance-management systems, and strong communication; offshore/marine maintenance experience and willingness to operate in a security-vetted environment are expected. The role is full-time on-site at Devonport Royal Dockyard with a 35-hour work week.
Required Qualifications
- Level 3 NVQ or BTEC, or equivalent qualification in an electrical/electronic engineering specialisation
- Qualified electrical or electronic engineer with good engineering standards
- Security Clearance
- The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance
- IT skills and ability to generate defect reports and populate information into a maintenance management system
- Must be able to work onboard ships to carry out upkeeping duties on a regular basis
- Adaptable and demonstrate flexibility to work across a variety of different tasks which could include general marine maintenance tasks
- Good communication skills
