Electrical Engineering - Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Summary

Lead electrical design of building systems including medium and low voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, communications, and security. Prepare engineering calculations for power loads, service sizing, voltage drop, and duct banks. Develop design concepts, reports, and construction drawings using Revit and AutoCAD while coordinating multidisciplinary teams. Review junior engineers' work for technical accuracy and compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code and BC Building Code. Perform site investigations, conduct shop drawing reviews, respond to RFIs, and support commissioning. Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables while mentoring junior staff. Ensure designs meet applicable industry standards and support business development initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical consulting engineering with a focus on building and infrastructure projects
  • Experience designing HV substations (indoor and outdoor), generator systems, system grounding, underground utility (U/G) distribution systems, duct banks, and power cabling
  • Experience with utility coordination, power system protection and control, fire alarm, and life safety systems
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code, CSA standards, and applicable industry design standards
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical building systems and engineering best practices
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams while managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to meet schedules and budgets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients, contractors, and project teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical engineering software
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff and provide technical leadership
  • Strong client service orientation with the ability to build and maintain lasting professional relationships
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and committed to delivering high-quality engineering solutions
  • Relocation to Vancouver, BC

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, or mixed-use projects
  • LEED AP, WELL AP, or experience with sustainable building design
