Electrical Engineering Manager

Job Summary

Lead the Vancouver Electrical Engineering team by reviewing design solutions, approving validation plans, and directing electronic CAD standards including library management and schematic rules. Monitor program status, manage resources, and interface with contract manufacturers to ensure projects meet budget, schedule, and safety criteria while solving technical challenges for new product launches. Build and mentor engineers, conduct performance evaluations, and maintain equipment for the electronic lab. Represent the team in multi-function programs spanning manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to drive continuous improvement and successful product delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronic, Computer Science, Mechanical or related engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of industry or relevant electronic design experience
  • 3+ years in a people management or team leadership role, with demonstrated success leading technical professionals
  • Consumer electronic product design and new product development experience, ideally related to automotive and/or safety critical systems
  • Knowledge in Altium Designer, or equivalent electronic CAD program
  • Familiar with PCB manufacturing processes and fabrication capabilities, specifically as it relates to interfacing with external fabrication houses
  • Familiar with EMC related issues during the certification testing of a product
  • Familiar with QFD, Design and Process FMEA's
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as SAE, ISO, and familiarity with ISO9001 requirements
  • Self-starter with a passion for learning
  • Ability to forge and manage relationships with program teams, customers, and suppliers, as well as foster a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to work well within a team environment and all levels of personnel
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Innovative thinker with both successes and defendable failures in product/technology development
  • Professional demeanor whether in person, via email or on the telephone
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with EMC simulation toolchains or products
  • Familiar with QFD, Design and Process FMEA's
