Job Summary
Conduct engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project budgets and client expectations. Assist with design portions according to code and IMEG standards, research commercially available equipment, and coordinate schedules with architectural, structural, and mechanical disciplines. Document design decisions, meetings, and instructions promptly, review project documents for accuracy prior to final checks, and conduct periodic job site observations. This 10-12 week summer internship supports high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030 standards for commercial and institutional projects, including higher-education, lab, campus, and health-science facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- Previous exposure to CAD and/or Building Information Model software
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Location: Urbandale, IA
- Full-time in office
- 10-12 week summer program

- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry
