Job Summary

Create design documents, drawings, and wiring diagrams for substation projects, including generating bills of materials and applying field mark-ups under direct supervision. Perform engineering calculations for relay burden, load flow, short circuits, ground grids, and transformer sizing while adhering to NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI standards. Spend time at job sites to gain hands-on knowledge in substation construction and design, and bring potential project-related problems to the responsible party. Travel out of town for short periods as required by assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals
  • Basic knowledge of three phase power systems
  • Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work
  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software
