Electrical Engineering Intern

Job Summary

Create design documents, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials for substation projects, and perform engineering calculations including relay burden, load flow, short circuit studies, and transformer sizing under direct supervision. Apply industry standards such as NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI while using document management systems and engineering software. Spend time at job sites to gain hands-on knowledge of substation construction and design, bringing potential project problems and solutions to the responsible party. Deliver accurate work on schedule and travel to project locations as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals
  • Basic knowledge of three phase power systems
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software
  • Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work
  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
  • Occasional travel to other offices or meeting locations
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future visa sponsorship
