Job Summary
Electrical Engineer I, in Sungrow North America’s training center, designs and delivers technical training programs for internal field service engineers, service partners, and customers. Develops comprehensive training materials (manuals, presentations, hands-on exercises, assessments), collaborates with product/engineering teams, updates programs for new products and standards, conducts in-person and virtual trainings, employs varied instructional techniques, coordinates with R&D in Hefei for technical docs, develops and administers assessments, certifies trainees, leads customer visits at Sungrow facilities, gathers participant feedback, analyzes results to improve programs, serves as a technical resource, prepares reports on training activities, and pursues ongoing professional development. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronics/renewable energy, training experience (preferable in renewables), knowledge of solar inverter tech, strong communication and presentation skills, ability to convey complex concepts, organizational skills, proficiency with training software and Microsoft Office, and safety knowledge. Travel 10-30%. Location: Houston, TX, on-site; contract role. Salary range $80k-$100k (California, Colorado, New York, Washington ranges noted). Equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, renewable energy, or a related field
- Proven experience in training, preferably in the renewable energy sector
- In-depth knowledge of solar inverter technologies and their applications
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in using training software and virtual training platforms
- Demonstrates broad knowledge of electrical and construction site safety
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Basic knowledge of Electrical Safety Standards
- Education or Desired License and Certificates: Bachelor’s degree or Technical degree with equivalent experience
- Solar industry, battery industry, or power electronics experience is required
- English language fluency required
- Mandarin Chinese proficiency desired but not required
- Certification in training and development is a plus
- Master of data analysis and visualization tools such as R or Python is a plus
