Job Summary
Design electrical power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems for building projects nationwide, ensuring compliance with NEC, NFPA, and IECC standards. Oversee technical accuracy and serve as Engineer of Record for applicable project disciplines. Perform load calculations, short-circuit analysis, and coordination studies using EasyPower or similar software, while developing and modifying drawings in AutoCAD and Revit. Collaborate with architects, consultants, and stakeholders to integrate systems into overall designs, conduct site visits for installation reviews, and review submittals for quality assurance. Assist in budgeting, cost estimating, and project scheduling, and provide mentorship to junior engineers on code compliance and design best practices. Some travel is anticipated for local and/or national projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, with willingness to perform as Engineer of Record
- NCEES Record holder
- Minimum 7-10 years of electrical engineering experience
- Proven experience applying National Electrical Code and local amendments, as well as other standards (NFPA, IECC)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- BIM modeling
- Expertise in EasyPower or similar power system analysis software for load calculations and studies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of power distribution, low-voltage, lighting, and fire alarm system design
- Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu for markups, document management and collaboration
- Experience performing quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications
- Field experience in system installation, troubleshooting or commissioning
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects across different regions
- Some travel should be anticipated for local and/or national projects
Desired Qualifications
- PE license in additional states (or ability to be licensed in other states)
- Field experience with building automation system (BAS) integration, troubleshooting, or commissioning
- Familiarity with mechanical design (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) for integrated MEP coordination
- The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working independently, with a high level of initiative
- BIM models using Revit a plus
