Job Summary
Electrical Design Engineer role in Hamilton, Ontario focusing on designing and implementing electrical systems for industrial equipment with PLC/HMI controls, DC systems, and crane control integration. Responsibilities include developing electrical schematics/layouts/panel designs in CAD (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical), specifying PLCs/HMIs/sensors/relays/motors, designing crane control systems and safety features, maintaining DC control systems, on-site programming/commissioning/troubleshooting, collaborating with mechanical/project teams, conducting load studies per CSA/NEC/IEC, supporting prototype development/testing, producing BOMs and installation manuals, and contributing to scalable design solutions. Ideal candidate has 5+ years in industrial electrical design, proficiency with CAD tools, strong knowledge of control systems and codes, and ability to work on-site at the Hamilton facility.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related discipline
- 5+ years hands-on experience in electrical design within an industrial or manufacturing setting
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent design tools
- Solid understanding of control systems, including PLCs and industrial automation
- Familiarity with Canadian and international electrical codes and safety standards
- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail
- Effective communicator and collaborative team player
- Experience with electrical testing protocols and instrumentation would be an asset
- Ability to work in office at the Hamilton facility - Remote or Hybrid not applicable
