Job Summary
Manage one or more electrical engineering projects in midstream gas processing, petroleum refining, and upstream oil & gas industries. Engage in shop and field testing of switchgear and motor control center equipment while coordinating with engineering disciplines, project managers, and clients. Apply design knowledge for medium and low voltage power distribution, grounding, and motor control systems. Conduct power studies including load flow, short circuit, and relay coordination to define distribution facility requirements. Review and approve electrical design deliverables for issuance to construction, develop scopes of work, and notify supervision of scope, budget, or schedule impacts. Requires EIT licensure and experience with SKM tools; full-time in-office role in Odessa/Houston, TX.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering and design work for oil and gas and chemical facilities
- Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations
- EIT licensure
- Experience in the analysis of industrial power systems using SKM tools or equivalent modeling software
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code and API standards, including sections relevant to electrical installations in hazardous locations and in the classification of hazardous areas
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to walk the property and laydown yards
- Ability to carry up to fifty pounds
Desired Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience (preferred)
- Substation experience
- P.E. by exam
- Experience in the specification of LV and MV transformers, switchgear, motor controls, and variable frequency drives
