On-siteOttawa, Ontario, Canada

Full TimeBachelors DegreeStartup

Job Summary

Design spacecraft avionics through schematic capture and PCB layout for power, control, and signal boards, while building wiring harnesses and managing electrical integration across subsystems. Bring up, test, and debug electronic boards and subsystems by developing power systems and running electrical tests for signal integrity, functionality, and environmental conditions. Own documentation including schematics, ICDs, and test procedures, and set up lab instrumentation to support hardware-in-the-loop testing. Collaborate closely with mechanical, embedded software, and systems engineers to support spacecraft integration, environmental testing, and anomaly resolution. This role requires a physical presence at the Ottawa facility and may involve extended hours and weekend work to support critical project and mission milestones.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Solid foundation in circuit design, analysis, and electronics
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium, KiCad, or similar)
  • Comfort with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, DMMs)
  • Exposure to at least one programming language (Python, C, or C++)
  • Extended hours and weekend work may be required to support critical project and mission milestones
  • This role requires a physical presence at the Ottawa facility

Desired Qualifications

  • Creative problem solver with strong first-principles thinking, capable of assessing risk and making decisions with limited data
  • Experience in a nimble, technical engineering role, with a scrappy, entrepreneurial approach to meeting tight time or budget constraints
  • Hands-on experience building and testing real electronics — student design teams (rocketry, CubeSat, FSAE), research, or industry
  • Experience bringing up custom PCBs from bare board to working hardware
  • Familiarity with power electronics, motor drive, or spacecraft EPS
  • Experience with microcontrollers, sensors, and embedded integration
  • Familiarity with communication interfaces (RS422, I2C, SPI, CAN, Ethernet)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, collaborative team player, and detail-oriented with a focus on quality
