Job Summary
Design electrical systems, including lighting, power, and life safety, for renovations, new facilities, and modernization projects supporting real client needs. Apply technical expertise to load sizing and service requirements for beneficial electrification initiatives. Lead electrical projects while contributing to quality through thoughtful QA/QC of design work. Mentor and guide junior engineers as they develop their technical skills and project experience. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other disciplines to deliver coordinated, client-focused designs across K-12, higher education, healthcare, institutional, and commercial markets. This hybrid role in New York City offers a $5K signing bonus and aligns with Salas O'Brien's mission to design lasting solutions for pressing challenges.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of electrical design experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- New York State Professional Engineer
- Experience supporting K-12, higher education, healthcare, institutional, and/or commercial projects in the New York market
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft
- Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines, including proficiency with the National Electrical Code
- A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to delivering quality work
- Clear communication skills and the ability to manage time effectively across multiple priorities
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and balance competing project needs
- Comfort working both independently and as part of a collaborative
- A practical, solutions-oriented approach to solving problems effectively and in a timely manner
