Job Summary
Design, verify, and oversee the transition to production of custom electronics systems for fully autonomous surgical robotics. Lead creative decisions on robotics stage designs, motor drives and controls, custom camera designs, manufacturing automation, and the firmware enabling these devices. Execute full lifecycle testing for all designed devices before manufacturing them for human surgeries. This role offers substantial autonomy to own impactful projects within the Surgery & Robotics Hardware Team. Designs support the automation of Neuralink implantation, utilizing multi-axis robotic arms, custom imaging hardware, and safety systems like 3D spatial mapping.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
- Professional experience delivering on all phases of electronics design (requirements, part selection, schematic, layout, manufacturing, test)
- Demonstrated depth in at least one of the following: Power electronics: experience designing custom power conversion, distribution, eFusing, and battery management systems in the low-to-medium (1W-2kW) range
- FPGA hardware design for time sensitive systems such as image processing, high-speed data acquisition, or real time networking. Professional experience in FPGA selection, RTL development, digital signal processing theory and techniques, and hardware design to interface high speed physical layer devices via PCIe, MIPI, SLVS-ec, LVDS, etc
- Test automation design: professional experience architecting and implementing manufacturing automation solutions for products that currently ship at the scale of 1000's+
- Practical electronics design knowledge including designing for EMC, ESD, thermals and packaging
Desired Qualifications
- A portfolio showcasing your hardware designs
- Demonstrable experience developing electronics for safety critical systems such as medical devices, aerospace, automotive, or military
- Demonstrable experience shipping code in one of the following languages: C, C++, Python, or Rust
- Altium experience
