Job Summary
Electrical Engineer – Protection, Controls & Microgrid Systems role supporting microgrid control and automation for large-scale data center and generation projects. Responsibilities include designing and implementing microgrid control and automation systems, developing protection and control schemes for BTM generation and grid-interconnected facilities, assisting with islanding, resynchronization, and load-shedding strategies, supporting RTAC programming, controller configuration, and system integration activities, and preparing technical reports, functional design specifications, and engineering recommendations. Requires a B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 1–3 years of experience in power systems/controls, familiarity with protection and power system software (e.g., SEL, ETAP, ASPEN, PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink), and strong communication skills. Preference for EIT or PE licensure progress, experience with SEL RTAC or automation platforms, familiarity with microgrids, battery storage, and standards such as IEEE, IEC, and NERC.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred)
- 1–3 years of experience in power systems, controls, utility, generation, EPC, or related environments
- Experience with protection, controls, or power system software such as SEL, ETAP, ASPEN, PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar tools
- Understanding of power system protection, fault analysis, controls, and electrical system fundamentals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- EIT certification or progress toward PE licensure
- Experience with microgrids, inverter-based resources, and plant controls
- Familiarity with IEEE, IEC, NERC or utility interconnection standards
- Remote work ability in a fully distributed environment
