Job Summary
Electrical Overhead Lines Engineer responsible for leading and delivering technical design for transmission projects up to 400kV. Responsibilities include PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structural analysis and loading trees, sag-tension calculations, insulator/conductor selection, feasibility studies, conductor thermal ratings, and ensuring compliance with safety, health, environmental, sustainability, and quality standards. Will support engineering deliverables such as complex designs, reports, proposals, presentations, and drawing packages within AECOM’s Transmission & Distribution team, with a flexible hybrid working model in Manchester, UK. Must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent, and relevant experience with operators like National Grid, SSE, and SPT; strong communication skills and ability to work within client-driven design processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline (electrical engineering or power engineering)
- Experience working within electrical design projects for transmission system operators such as National Grid, SSE and SPT
- Project experience in overhead line engineering up to 400kV
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
