Electrical Engineer

Job Summary

Develop complete electrical design packages including schematics, layouts, and bills of materials for low- and medium-voltage control equipment while ensuring compliance with IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, and UL standards. Lead client-facing communication on technical issues and collaborate with manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and field service teams to resolve design challenges and improve reliability. Partner with estimators to provide design input for accurate project quotes and build vendor relationships to evaluate new technologies. Mentor junior designers and engineers, support production troubleshooting, and contribute to new product development projects. This senior Electrical Engineer role requires a PE license, 3+ years of experience in marine, heavy industrial, and oil & gas sectors, and frequent travel to regional sites and production floors.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of electrical engineering design with Switchgear in the marine, heavy industrial, and oil & gas industries
  • 1+ years of experience with electro-mechanical power system design, including low/medium voltage power distribution, motor control centers, controls integration, and arc flash protection
  • Understanding of generator controls, protective relays, short circuit/coordination studies, and complex system integration
  • Proficiency in design software: AutoCAD and related electrical CAD tools
  • Ability to read and understand client-supplied job specifications and one-line diagrams to create design criteria for project development
  • Strong knowledge of applicable electrical standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, UL)
  • Familiarity with ERP/PLM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Ability to work on fast-paced, short-turnaround projects
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills with an emphasis on cost, safety, and quality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to prepare technical documentation and present to internal teams and clients
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while also leading cross-functional collaboration
  • Commitment to mentoring and developing junior team members
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • FLSA executive and professional positions paid on a salary basis, where project requirements and tight client deadlines may require workweeks over forty (40) hours (including weekends or holidays)
  • This role will be in office setting, however frequent visits to the production floor are required to oversee operations, ensure compliance and safety standards
  • Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs
  • Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up to twenty-five (25) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards
  • Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members
  • Frequent travel to regional sites required; presence on production floors is expected

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with marine, oil and gas, or energy sector projects (preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License, preferred
