Job Summary
Design and analyze electrical systems for industrial processing, power, mining, and municipal facilities by preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimations. Manage project scopes, deliverables, and budgets while coordinating execution and ensuring milestones are met. Provide technical leadership through coaching, mentoring staff, and developing proposals. Build and sustain relationships with internal and external clients to align technical approaches with project goals. Support business development activities and occasionally modify schedules to meet client deadlines. This hybrid role includes up to 15 percent domestic travel and requires a PE license or ability to obtain one.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
- At least 5 years of related experience working in a design capacity on projects directly related to job responsibilities described above
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain within one year
- Microsoft Office
- Possession of a current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr Engineering, now or in the future
- Ability to work in locations that feature the rough terrain typical of construction sites
- Must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation
- Hybrid work arrangement (splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office)
- Up to 10–15 percent domestic fieldwork

Desired Qualifications
- 10+ years of related experience
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above
- Demonstrated project organization and management skills
- Experience with SKM Power Tools or E-Tap software for coordination and arc flash studies
- Client-relationship and business-development skills
- Experience with Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programming software
- Experience with start-up and commissioning of industrial projects
