Electrical Engineer – Mid Level (Hybrid)

Job Summary

Conduct detailed design for electrical installations in power, mining, and hydroelectric sectors, including wiring, schematic diagrams, and bill-of-material development. Prepare specifications, plans, and reports while performing cost estimation and design analysis for power and controls systems. Manage project proposals, define scopes and schedules, and coordinate execution to ensure milestones are met. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to align technical approaches with project goals. Support team member development and maintain strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • 5 years of relevant experience related to the job responsibilities described above
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain within one year
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Basic Microsoft Office software, especially Excel and Word
  • Possession of a current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future
  • Must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work in locations that feature the rough terrain typical of construction sites
  • Must be available for up to 10–15 percent domestic fieldwork
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work arrangement

Desired Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience at a consulting engineering or industrial company
  • Knowledge of and experience with industrial manufacturing processes such as power plants, petroleum refining, mining, minerals processing, or chemical production
  • Background and skills related to PLC and HMI programming and commissioning
  • Knowledge and experience related to piping and instrumentation diagrams
  • Experience related to electrical installations in hazardous areas
