Electrical Engineer, MEP

Job Summary
Lead the design and analysis of complex electrical systems for large-scale MEP projects, developing design documents including layouts, schematics, block diagrams, and one-line diagrams. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and specialists to coordinate fire alarm, technology, lighting, and power distribution sizing. Prepare project specifications and proposals to support the growth of electrical engineering service areas while mentoring junior staff and expanding the local practice. Requires a P.E. license (or ability to obtain within 12 months), 4+ years of experience, and proficiency in Revit and power system analysis tools. Based in Kimley-Horn's Orlando office with occasional travel for site visits.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years experience in an Electrical Engineering role
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Understanding of the National Electrical Code, IEEE and ANSI Standards, Fire Alarm Codes, Building and Energy Codes
- Willingness to travel to support site visits and client meetings, as needed
- Ability to work in a team; both collaborating with and mentoring junior staff
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in building and associated site power distribution systems
- Experience in Fire Alarm systems
- Experience in lighting controls and photometric calculations
- Experience in engineering project management
- Proficiency in Revit
- Experience in power system analysis using SKM, ETAP, or equivalent
